Creating Your First Digital Course

Written by Tarla Makaeff

I didn’t understand how to truly have my own business when I came online. Since I’d been an entrepreneur my whole life, that was the only way to go. I wanted something that was completely mine. It’s only through my own research I finally learned the one way to monetize I would then go on to pursue: digital courses.

This is the best online business strategy for personal stylists or any women in a creative field where you trade time for money. There are a lot of ways to monetize online but the only one that hits all the checkmarks for me are digital courses. You produce your course once - and yes, that takes an extraordinary amount of work - and then you reap the benefits. Your job becomes promoting instead of creating, and this promoting can be done automatically through advertising so courses can turn into relatively passive income. I say relatively because while passive income exists online, there is nothing that is 100% passive. You still have some work to do on the backend, but it is as close to not working as you can get.

Think about it like this. Someone creates a book once or a movie once. That book or movie is purchased and watched many times by thousands or millions of people. It was a tremendous amount of work to create but that one project will continue to bring in revenue for years to come. This is the same principle at play here when it comes to digital course creation for creative, heart centered women.

Unlike physical products, you don’t have to worry about shipping issues and getting product out on a timely basis. Your courses deliver electronically and immediately upon purchase.

Unlike brand collaborations, you’re not working to build someone else’s brand using your likeness, you’re building your own.

Unlike affiliate or network marketing (and I still love affiliate marketing), you are not at the mercy of someone else making decisions on your business or pulling the plug at any time.

In fact, with ads for your courses it’s like turning on a water fountain. You can let the water trickle or turn it on full blast and control your income completely. You’re in charge, and that’s the way I like it. Don’t you?

If you're wondering how to create and sell a course as a virtual stylist, a fashion designer, or as a boss babe in any other creative career, get on my waitlist for my course on creating your own digital course here.

If you could pick any topic, what would you create your digital course on?
