Social Influence


When I used to look at social media influencers, I wondered how they were making money. It’s that age old mystery that everyone offline ponders about. These influencers seemed to be posting all day with content that couldn’t possibly generate any income, but then I learned their secret to monetization. They were using social media as the vehicle but not as their business.

I remember coming online not understanding these principles whatsoever and then being improperly advised. I was told to basically inbox people day and night and become an infomercial on my own page. Even having been a successful copywriter, I didn’t understand the social media game. After all, I had focused on traditional marketing in my career, not online marketing. It’s only 9 months later that I discovered what I had been told to do was actually completely a lie. Instead, I found something called Attraction Marketing that used principles to attract people to you, principles that would naturally repel the wrong audience, but not your entire audience.

Still, I was missing a huge piece of the puzzle. I now knew how to post but I still didn’t fully understand how to monetize outside of the jewelry, skincare, and wine network marketing companies I had started in. I’m no longer in network marketing. I’ve since gone on to be a digital course creator. But no matter what profession you’re in online, there is a right and wrong way to set up your business, and what almost no one will tell you is that an email list is key to that.
